Why TTL is not always your friend in the studio

Why TTL is not always your friend in the studio, pre-flash does not play nice with optically trigger Why TTL is not always your friend in the studio, pre-flash does not play nice with optically triggered strobes If you want to use a speed-light in conjunction with studio strobes that your attempting to optically trigger, you will run in to an issue. The speed-light and camera will use TTL, and because TTL sends out a pre-flash burst of light to meeter the scene, that pre-flash will optically trigger your strobes, and they will not have enough time to recycle before the main flash fires. So, if you camera allows you to disabled the pre-flash ttl, do that... otherwise, like me, you will need to use a wireless radio trigger that does not support ttl and shoot in Manual mode.
