First results of Gene Therapy Trials by Professor Robin Ali

There has been much excitement over the announcements of results of the Gene Therapy trials conducte There has been much excitement over the announcements of results of the Gene Therapy trials conducted by Dr Robin Ali (fast becoming a hero in my world!). The trial is for a treatment for LCA, Leber's Congenital Amaurosis, a rare form of a Retinal Disease / Retinitis Pigmentosa and has produced some amazing results. This video shows the before and after results of Steven navigating a darkened room with obstacles in his way. The improvement is amazing and shows there is hope for the future. We must all remember however that this is a rare form of RP that is not yet a third of the way through the 3 year trial. It won't treat or cure all of us RP sufferers BUT it is a very positive first step forward. See the full story at www.brps.org.uk Length: 00:01:28
